365 Mile Challenge Registration Kicks Off Today
Today marks the launch of the 3rd year of the 365 Mile Challenge! We have had over 2,500 people participate in the challenge. Together, we have have taken daily steps and those miles have added up to over 900,000 miles. Together we have circumnavigate the earth 36 times over the last two years. I cannot wait to see what we can do together in 2019!
Check out this video Alyssa Erickson put together with clips from the community.
About the 365 Mile Challenge
If you’re new to the 365 Mile Challenge, it’s an outdoor challenge to get outdoors and complete 1 self-propelled mile a day. You can complete those miles however you choose: walking, biking, hiking, jogging, running, slogging (slow jogging, that’s what I do). But not on an e-bike, motorcycle, or motorized recreational vehicle.
The goal is to complete the miles outdoors, but some days life happens or the air quality is poor. Indoor miles count, too. It’s up to you to keep track of the miles. We provide a tracking sheet, but you get to choose how to complete those miles.
The challenge was started by four outdoor loving mamas and has continued to grow in momentum as an outdoor movement.
Upgraded Registration Options
There are three registration options.
Our members asked us to provide a paper-free option, so this year we have a digital kit. Register here:
When does the challenge run?
January 1, 2019- December 31st 2019.
How Much Does it Cost?
We have three different registration levels for 2019 depending on your desired invovlement & swag choices. We’ve also added an in-house physical trainer who will answer questions and have bi-monthly video training on relevant topics.
Why do you have to pay to play?
Because when we have a little “skin-in-the-game” we’re more likely to reach our goals.
Your contribution will go to support this program. Think of it like a race entry fee, only it’s for a race that lasts all year long. Plus, its cheaper than most race entry fees and you get to run/hike/bike/swim/ski at your own pace and on your own turf.
What you get for registering
Each registration option has different items. I like to think of the Scout as the eco-friendly person that likes everything digital. The Adventurer comes with an awesome Welcome Packet, similar to a race packet that includes exclusive discounts and coupons. The Explorer is for the person (like me) that likes to do things 110% and commit to being ALL IN. This includes the above items as well as an awesome custom journal (these are my favorite, I’ve gone through 4 this year).

What happens after you register
You’ll get a welcome email from the 365 Mile Challenge team. Then start planning out how you want to complete your miles. We’ll send you a reminder a few days before the new year. The challenge officially kicks off January 1! But feel free to start now to make it a good habit.
Each Monday we do a “roll call” where we enter our miles in the FB Group.
A year long challenge is A LONG TIME to keep the momentum going and keep the stoke high. That’s why we’ve partnered with some incredible brands below that host monthly giveaways for sweet outdoor gear!
OTHER FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I record my mileage?
Since everyone uses different tracking tools (Endomondo, Strava, Suunto, Garmin, FitBit, Jawbone, Map My Run), we ask that you keep track of your own mileage in whatever way you prefer.
Then at the end of December, we’ll ask you to add them all up and give us a screenshot or photo of your annual mileage. If you completed 365 “self-propelled” miles during the year you’ll be entered to win the end-of-year prize package.
If you’re not tech-savvy we have a tracker that you can print & fill out. You’ll be sent one with your welcome packet and its available for download in our Facebook group.
Is this challenge open to everyone, regardless of where we live?
Yes, we welcome our international friends to participate! Some giveaway prizes might just be for U.S. or North American residents due to shipping costs, but you’re more than welcome to join us in our private facebook page and we’ll even convert your kilometers to miles for you!
What kind of miles can I log?
Any activity that gets your legs moving and your heart pumping. For example, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing count. But snowmobiling doesn’t. Running, hiking, and mountain biking count. But 4-wheeling doesn’t.
When in doubt come up on our facebook group page and we can chat about it there. The whole goal here is to get our bodies moving (preferably outdoors, of course!).
Who is sponsoring this event? What kind of giveaway items and discounts can we expect?
How often will you give clothing and gear away?
In 2018 we gave away over $8,000 worth of prizes to 365 Mile Challenge participants and partnered with some of the biggest brands in the industry. From bikes, to daypacks, and clothing to camping gear. Our 2019 sponsors are getting lined up right now but participants can expect the same opportunities.
Can I do this as a family? Is there an age limit to participate?
We love our families and they’ll be joining us for the challenge and we’d encourage you to bring your spouse, children, parents, aunts, uncles and favorite pets along for the ride. To be officially registered in the challenge and allowed entry into our private facebook group and available for giveaway prizes they’ll need to join too.
What do I get if I complete 365 miles?
Insane bragging rights! We’ll think that you’re awesome too. If you are an Adventurer or a Pathfinder, once you fill out the finisher’s form we’ll send you a handy-dandy certificate and a patch.
Adventurer & Pathfinder participants who finish will also be entered to win the end of year giveaway prize just for those who complete the 365 miles.
We’ll also have a special patches for those that double or even triple their miles!
