If you’re like me, then you’re constantly on the lookout for a good pair of hiking boots. You also know, the proper footwear enhances outdoor hiking experiences. I just tried a new pair of shoes, Oboz’s women’s sapphire mid waterproof hiking boots. These offer a fair price for a product that will last miles of rigorous wear.
Price of these shoes: $160
Are they worth the price and will they last?
YES, and here’s why…
- Excellent traction
- Fully waterproof
- Mid ankle/foot support
- Women specific fit
- Toe box is wide for toes to spread
Immediately out of the box these caught my eye. The brown boots and turquoise trim make for a stylish look. These mid ankle boots aren’t too clunky and they have a feminine feel without being crazy PINK or uber girly.
Oboz hiking boots for women provide a lot of foot support. They’re snug around the tongue and ankle with plenty of room for toes to expand. These boots have excellent traction.
I recommend breaking these shoes in before taking them on the trails because they are slightly stiff. Once broken in they are quite comfy and stylish enough to go straight from downtown to the trails (I live in Salt Lake City, I can do that 🙂).
I love the rugged outdoorsy tailored look of these boots.
How they performed on the trail
These boots were put through the rigors of early Spring conditions in the Wasatch Mountains – meaning muddy and wet conditions. My feet stayed dry the entire trek and the traction was amazing!
Early summer, I ventured down to Southern Utah’s Kolob Canyon (a lesser known area of Zion’s National Park). I took Johnson’s Creek trail which travels through small streams of water. I was pleased with how they performed and kept me dry.
The boots provide excellent traction preventing slipping and twisted ankles on the steady climb up and down rocky trails.
In addition, the sporty look make them great for casual wear. I wore them with my jeans to an outdoor production at the Tuachan Theater and I fit right in.
These boots are high on my list for style, quality and price.
How cool is this company? Oboz recognizes the importance of conservation and helping those in need. They support tree events, carbon offsetting, and wind power. And they practice what they preach. None of their shoes are wasted, their surplus go to feet in need of shoes.
Disclaimer: These hiking boots were given to me by Oboz. I have loads of hiking boots and I really don’t need another pair, so I feel like the above statements are my unbiased opinion and observations about these particular hiking boots. Just so you know :)
