Preparing For Your First Road Trip With Baby
I HAVE BEEN COMPENSATED BY JOHNSON’S® BABY FOR THIS POST; HOWEVER, I AM SHARING MY OWN THOUGHTS. ALL OPINIONS ARE MY OWN.
Mommy Must Haves
As new parents, it is easy to want to spend the days home, where you have easy access to baby food, toys, and diapers. Sometimes it is hard to even squeeze in a shower, and get dressed for the day. Eventually cabin fever will set in and you will want to get up and go. Preparing for your first road trip with your little one in tow can be daunting. Fear not, and continue reading to help make your outing a breeze!
Allow Extra Time
As you have already found out, babies are like ticking time bombs. They run on their own schedule and they are indeed your newest boss. Sometimes you just do not know when a dirty diaper is going to happen, or a even when a growth spurt will occur. If you need to be in the next state over, by noon tomorrow, be sure to allow for lots of extra stops, to tend to your baby’s needs.
Do Not Over-pack
Everyone always seems to think that babies require so many things. But in all honestly, all they really need is food, clean diapers, clean clothes, and a safe place to sleep. It is not necessary to pack a week’s worth of baby clothes, if the destination you are going to has a washing machine. Did you pack ten diapers for each day of your trip? Diapers can take up a lot of room, as well. No matter where you are going, you will likely be within 30 to 45 minutes of a store that sells diapers, at all times!
Remember the Blankie!
If your baby has formed a deep attachment to their pacifier or that crocheted blanket that your aunt made for them, be sure to pack it! While it sounds obvious, these items are often thrown out of the car seat as you are loading everything else into the car and left behind. Double check, to make sure your child’s most comforting possession is in their hands.
Don’t forget to pack their favorite products
Before I head on a road trip, with the baby, I always pack their favorite products. My kids get used to a routine, so I never want to leave home without products like JOHNSON’S® HEAD-TO-TOE® baby wash, JOHNSON’S® baby lotion, and JOHNSON’S® baby powder. I try to order ahead of time, so it can just be delivered right to my door. Walmart.com is always my go to place for ordering Johnson’s baby products.
