Can you believe that January is almost here? As much as I love the holiday season, it’s refreshing to see the start of New Year and what it will bring. There are some exciting things happening in January in relationship to birds. Let me tell you about these fun events.
National Bird Day
On January 5th, you should know that it’s National Bird Day. On National Bird Day it is super awesome to be able to recognize all of the birds that make our world so great. To stop and think about all the unique birds in the world is truly amazing. During the month of January, you will also notice that it is National Adopt a Rescued Bird Month. Rescuing birds and making sure they get back out into the wild safely is important.
National Penguin Day
I know there are a ton of Penguin Lovers out there. Get this: there is a whole day dedicated to penguin lovers. Penguin Awareness Day is on January 20th! we will be launching a test pilot education program and contest with our new partner Shedd Aquarium in Chicago – with an aim to connect local teachers and students with a singular goal, educating the next generation about the importance of wildlife conservation – we’ll have assets available!
Adopt a Rescued Bird Month
If you have the means to do so and love birds, then why not adopt a bird? January is Adopt a Bird Rescued Bird Month. This may mean donating financially or even adopting a bird to come live in your home if you so desire. Taking care of a bird is easy when you learn the right techniques.
Join Birds for Dawn and learn more about the International Bird Rescue! Dawn will even have marine scientist Dr. Ellen Prager available for interviews.
