365 Mile Challenge
What is the 365 Mile Challenge?
Today I’m excited to announce the 356 Mile Challenge. This is a project we’ve been working on for a few months and a few friends on Facebook got a sneak peek.
Here’s the thing. Somedays, most days, I feel like a complete fraud. I’m an outdoor blogger but don’t always like going outdoors. Especially when it is winter and freezing. Why couldn’t I have been an indoorsy blogger? That way I could stay at home in my very warm house. But time and time again, I’m learning that the more time I spend outdoors, the happier I am. The more I disconnect and get off the computer, the better I feel about myself and in turn am a much better mother.
I’m thankful for a husband and kids that enjoy getting outdoors and push me to get off the couch and explore together.
So when Rebecca Walsh, from Hike Like a Woman, had this wild and crazy idea to help get us outdoors 365 miles in 2017, I thought it rocked. (You can read Rebecca’s post over on Hike Like a Woman). Mostly, because I need to get outdoors and the best part is that we want you a part of the fun!
The Kid Project, Currently Wandering, Go Adventure Mom, Hike Like a Woman, and Tales of a Mountain Mama are kicking off 2017 with a 365 Mile Challenge to get participants outdoors 1 mile a day and we’d love for you to join us!
What is the 365 Mile Challenge?
The 365 Mile Challenge is a way to encourage our audience to complete 1 self -propelled mile per day.
This includes any activity that gets their legs moving and their heart pumping. For example, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing count. But snowmobiling doesn’t. Running, hiking, and mountain biking count,4-wheeling doesn’t.
The challenge will run for all 52 weeks of 2017. Registration opens to the public, December 28, but as a Go Adventure Mom loyal reader, you’ve earned special access now! The 365 Mile Challenge is a means to inspire others to get involved in a fitness program that can be beneficial to your health. Make sure to check out this 2017 Fitness Goals inspirational post!
The challenge launches on January 1, 2017. We estimate that over 500 people will join (80 people have already signed up) in the challenge. Secure your spot today and let’s do this together!
How it will work:
Participants will pay a small entry fee to be part of an exclusive Facebook group. Each week we will post encouragement, inspiration, and gear recommendations to help participants achieve their goals. We will encourage participants to share photos of their experiences on social media using the hashtag #365milechallenge. Check out 365MileChallenge.org for more information.
