How to Choose Running Shoes
Who knew that a person would need a specific type of shoe for running? Well, to keep your feet from getting hurt and for other safety and comfort reasons, it’s important to choose a pair of running shoes that you love. Finding the right kind of running shoes to fit your specific needs does take some time.
Keep these tips in mind for the next time you need to choose a pair of running shoes.
Wear the Right Size
Since running requires movement with your feet, it’s important that you have the right size shoe on. You can get measured to ensure you’re wearing the right size shoe during your runs.
Know Where You’ll Be Running
There is a major difference between running inside and running outside. Keep in mind the type of ground you will be running on when choosing a pair of running shoes. When running outside the ground tends to be rougher terrain wise, so your shoes will need to be tough!
Tread is Important on a Running Shoe
Tread is important on any shoe you wear, but especially important on running shoes. Most commonly the “wear pattern” is discussed amongst runners. Don’t forget to make sure your running shoes have proper tread to keep you safe and moving forward.
Lacing System is Major
When choosing a pair of running shoes, you also need to keep the lacing system in mind. Some runners prefer the boa closure over the regular shoe lace. You have to go with the type of lacing system that makes you feel most comfortable.
More Toe Room Please
How much room do you need for your toes when running? This is something of major concern when I’m choosing the right pair of running shoes for my situation. Toe box room is very important to the overall running shoe, in my opinion. This is the specific area that houses your toes! Consider more toe box room if you have a hard landing, longer toenails, or even long toes.
