Healthy School Lunch
It can be a little stressful trying to remember to pack healthy school lunches for our kids on a daily basis. When we do remember, sometimes it’s just about throwing in what’s available. However, this year with a little planning and determination I want to stick to the healthy lunch packing theme.
Here are some of my ideas for packing the healthiest lunches possible for my kids:
#1. Plan Plan Plan
If there’s one thing you can do to pack healthy school lunches it is to plan out the lunches for the week. Make a list of everything you’ll need for lunches during the week. Grocery shopping is much easier when you have a list and it’s a lot easier to plan healthier lunches when everything is in stock.
#2. Bright Colors Rock
One of the obstacles of packing healthy lunches can be the lack of variety. I’ve found that packing bright colors helps to spruce up healthy lunches for my kids. Instead of just packing carrots for the entire week I will try and switch it up with red and yellow bell peppers. Kids need exposed to different types of healthy foods and this is one way to do it.
#3. Get Creative
Imagine picking out a creative them for your child’s lunch every day or every week. Showing a little creativity in lunches can go an incredibly long way. You don’t have to pack a peanut butter and jelly for your child every day. Consider a little variety like sushi, egg salad, turkey wraps, or even homemade lunchables. Creativity knows no limits!
Packing a healthy lunch is something your children will appreciate on a daily basis. My favorite part of packing a healthy lunch for my children is knowing exactly what’s in the food they are eating. At least I know if I make a bad food choice in their lunch, it’s on me.
