Adventures in Math — How to tutor your child in math
Not every day can be a fun adventure in the mountains. Sometimes, you just have to buckle down and take care of business.
My daughter is in a Chinese dual immersion program at her school. She’s doing amazingly well, but we’ve recently noticed (thanks to her teacher pointing it out at Parent Teacher Conference) that she’s a bit slower at doing subtraction problems than most in her class.
Normally she’s at the head of the class, but since she’s learning math completely in Chinese, It’s totally understandable that she might need some additional help at home.
I’m no math wiz, so I was concerned about how I could possibly help her. (Yes, I am afraid that I can’t do second-grade math.)
But, after a quick search on-line, I came across this awesome Math site. Called Math-Aids.com
It allows you to not only print worksheets in any math subject, but you can create totally CUSTOM sheets. And you can do it for FREE!!!!
This allows me to drill her on just the problems she’s getting stuck on.
We’ve been working on this for less than a week and already see a HUGE difference in her ability. She’s getting much more comfortable and with time and persistence, she’ll be at the head of the class.
If you’re looking for a quick, easy and cheap way to help your kids get better at math. Check out Math-Aids.com And…they are NOT paying me to say this.
