Emmy Week: The Red Carpet Isn’t All It’s Cracked Up To Be
A few weeks ago I traveled to LA, here are a few highlights:
Going to the beach and swimming in the ocean. I jumped through the waves like a wild women. It was liberating and exhilarating!
Seeing the Santa Monica Pier close up. I see where Disney got their inspiration for California Adventure after being here.
Seeing the sunset from Santa Monica
Connecting with the talented and lovely Marty Heebner, owner of Rebagz. Long time friend and mentor, Marty and I met three years ago at MAGIC. It was wonderful to see her again. It felt like a day hadn’t gone by since we met! Don’t you love those kinds of friends?
Volunteering at Project Green and being a sign holder for 10 hours but getting a blurry taken to prove I was there! Dealing with D and E list celebrities (is that even such a thing?) Was not what it was promised. They were not the kind of people I choose to surround myself. So I left early. It was the right choice for me.
Learning that “submerged flowers” are not called “drowned flowers” by professional florists. Aren’t these lovely?
Unloading hundreds of beatiful Kaboo Bags. I already adore these bags, they are a local Salt Lake Company, but fell in love with this red one! The gals from Kaboo were there Denise and Katie and worked so hard!
Making new friends & roommates Rochelle Kretz Gaukel & Sara Spinski. Rochelle is the designer of What Ever Lola Wants jewelry. Stunning pieces that are so lovely.
Working with the Jane Owen PR rock stars during the event.
Seeing Janice Dickinson, the first super model, in real life.
Sunset from The Huntley Hotel
An other major highlight was seeing my college friend Jenn Cook that I hadn’t seen for years. We went to BYU together but got to be friends in Jerusalem. We both did advertising and got accepted to go to NYC for internships. Only I chose to run off and get married instead. Sadly, I didn’t have my camera to capture our time together. But she’s amazing and love her. You should check out her blog from her New York days Keeping It Classy. You’ll be peeing your pants in no time.
It was wonderful to connect with old friends, swim in to ocean and make new friends.
