Blogging has created a lot of wonderful opportunities, but I have to say one of my favorite things is sharing information and connecting people together.
“I still can’t believe we won. When I saw your blog post about it I thought, ‘maybe we would have a chance, not as many people enter video contests,’ but I never really expected to get this far. I am so thrilled for my daughter and husband to have this opportunity to participate with McDonald’s Chef, Dan Coudreaut, and experience the London Olympics. Thanks again for sharing about this contest!”— Victoria

When one Salt Lake City 8-year-old heads out with her friends on Wednesday, she will be surprised by her school principal, teacher, Ronald McDonald and the Parley’s Owner Operator and her family, friends and classmates to learn she is one of McDonald’s two Happy Meal Chefs winning the opportunity to help the company’s executive chef Dan Coudreaut in the creation and testing of new, nutrition-minded Happy Meal choices. The eight-year-old of Salt Lake City also wins a trip to the 2012 London Olympic Games where she will join kids from around the world as part McDonald’s Global Champions of Play program to celebrate balanced eating and fun play.
Open to parents and guardians with kids ages eight to 11, the Happy Meal Chefs contest sought out inspiring stories from families who enjoy cooking with wholesome ingredients at family mealtime. The young chef and her dad entered the contest by answering a brief questionnaire and submitting a short video online that creatively showcased their family mealtime.
At the Olympics, the lucky Salt Lake City winner will meet Olympic athletes; attend Olympic sporting events; participate in cooking activities that promote balanced eating and have the exclusive privilege of playing with athletes at the Olympic venues. Later this fall, she will experience a one-of-a-kind apprenticeship with Chef Dan.
