Find out what it HOT this SUMMER from MELIKA store owner Melissa Tokstad

Summer is around the corner. Can you believe it? I hope everyone had a nice Memorial Day weekend.
We had our last day of pre-school this week and are already busy planning our summer. { — If you live in Salt Lake and are looking for summer fun activities, check out my sister in-law’s website Sheri’s List for ideas –}
Gearing up for summer, I had the opportunity to interview Melika‘s store owner Melissa Tokstad and get a preview of the new Lolë Opaline Dress. Melika is based out of Hood River, Oregon and has an excellent line of fashionable, comfortable outdoor products for women.
Melika’s store owner  Melissa Tokstad tells a little about herself:
Why did you open the store?
I always wanted my own business, and I wanted to live in the gorge.  When the opportunity came up to buy the Kerrits swim business, I jumped on it.  I wore Kerrits suits a lot when I was sailboat racing because they worked well under wetsuits, and I wanted to continue the tradition.  The store has changed quite a bit since I bought it.  I still make my own swimwear and activewear, but I also carry other great brands, like Lole.
Why do you like the Lole line?
The fabrics are fantastic and the clothes travel well.  The line has a broad offering, so you can find everything from workout wear to swim, to skirts and dresses for work, to comfy casual clothes for hanging out with friends.  The colors are great, and the pieces all mix and match together well.
What are your favorite outdoor activities?
I used to sail a lot, but haven’t had much time lately. Most outdoor activities these days revolve around what I can do with my two year old son.  Living in the gorge, there is plenty to do!  We take him for bike rides and hikes a lot.  I’m hoping to get him on the stand up paddleboard this summer.  In the winter we go cross country skiing, and my son just learned to downhill ski this year.  He’s so cute ripping down the bunny hill!
What’s your #1 Summer must have?
The Lolë Opaline Dress! This sleeveless, round-neck, Empire-waist top is a modern romantic. It’s proof positive that opposites attract in Lolë’s Jersey and Chambray Mix, a yin/yang pairing of two 100% cotton fabrics. The shapely bodice, with elastic at the waist, is crafted from sensually soft jersey and complemented with chambray insets, while delicate gathers at the shoulders, back and waist give it a feminine neo-classic appeal.
Living on Hood River sounds like an adventure and a perfect place for raising children. Any mama that takes her children sailing and skiing is a woman after my own heart.
As a thank you for checking out their website, Melissa is giving you a chance to win your very own Lolë Opaline Dress in your choice of color and size.
Colors are Stella (blue), Clay, Black, & Petunia.
I’m head over heels with the Lolë Opaline Dress!
I received compensation for this post. All opinions stated are my own.

  1. I used to live in Lake Oswego and travel to Hood River. I wonder if the store was there back in 2005, which is when we moved away. It looks like a fab place. When we go there for our next visit, I’m stopping there for sure.

  2. Oh this looks lovely! I’m an active Mom of 3, and an entrepreneur, so I’m a big fan of clothes that look fresh & comfortable, but not sloppy.

  3. And I’m preparing for the summer by mapping out my adjusted schedule. We’re not completely stopping school, but we’re mostly just going to be focusing on reading. My oldest is at that exciting phase where she’s starting to read everything, and we’d really like to round that out before the summer’s end. :)

  4. Helping everyone get ready for summer with the Pura Vida June Beach Body Challenge – bring it on! Love the Opaline Dress!

  5. Traveling this summer and love Lole’s clothing line. Just bought a great flattering swimtop at Melika, suggested by the girl that works there.

  6. This dress really does look like a summer essential!

To prep for this summer I’m working on my base tan (kidding!!) and working my bum off in the garden.

  7. I bought lots of sunscreen and working out daily so I can wear a bikini with confidence!
