Episode 002

This time on the Go Adventure Mom Podcast, we’re joined by Georgia Anderson of KnowHowMom.com.

Her passion is to help parents raise their kids in the best way possible. We all want to raise children that have courage and are kind. But how do we do that? Are we sabotaging our child’s confidence?

Kathy & Georgia talk about creating encouragement and building confidence in our children. Georgia shares a process for building an encouraging statement, and we issue a challenge for you to try!

Do:

  1. Describe the situation, focusing on the clear and measurable facts
  2. Describe the feelings about the situation and the effect it has on you.
  3. Show your enthusiasm or gratitude in a meaningful way to the other person.

Don’t:

Start compliments with “You are…”  for example, “You are so smart, You are so nice, you are so pretty, etc.”

Other good stuff from podcast:

Risk – dare to take action, try.

Experience – success/fail to gain experience, note feedback.

Practice – find what does/doesn’t work and practice, repeat what works.

We must fail, success is enhanced by our failures.  There is no light without dark.

Development of Self-esteem is a constant process, life-long endeavor for ourselves and others whom we can positively impact.

Focus on the strength of the effort.

Build confidence in your own (and other’s) ability to try.
