Amazing Women Everywhere

With Mother’s Day this week, I’ve been thinking about all the women that inspire me. Over the years, I have been blessed to always have inspiring women around me.

In Elementary School, I had an kindergarden teacher, Mrs. B that loved everyone and always had a big smile. Moving here from Denmark, the transition was hard. I didn’t speak English well and the kids would tease me. But I always felt loved in her class. Years later, I ran into her and she gave me a big hug and she still remembered me and called me by name.

In Junior High, I had an English Teacher, Mrs. Hansen that was my inspiration. She believed in me. She had me join the school literary magazine, where I worked on for 2 years. I loved to read and write and she saw my potential. She listened and she cared. Mrs. Hansen was ultimately was the reason I went to BYU to study English. I wanted to be an English Teacher, just like her.

In High School, my church Young Women leaders were such a support and believed in me. They helped to give me much needed confidence. I still run into this group of women and they continue to inspire me with their lives of service and love.

At BYU it was my teachers and my friends mothers. College is a time for learning and growing and always loved to visit my roommates homes. Getting to know their families and parents was such a big part of my college experience. They were supportive and helped me transition into adulthood.

Today I look up to my mother, sister, sister in-law, mother in-law and friends. They are all examples to me of motherhood. In this phase of life, I am surrounded by so many examples of motherhood and am inspired by their examples.

I’ve often wanted to find these wonderful women and thank them. They will never know how great their impact has been on my life. This why I’ve partnered with SCA in a way that we can acknowledge and celebrate the women in our lives.  Amazing Women Everywhere

To promote this idea, SCA launched AMAZING WOMEN EVERYWHERE, this really cool digital mosaic that celebrates women that have a positive impact on others. It gives us the opportunity to thank the women in our lives that inspire us and have been a force for good for us.
